Leopold-Happisch-Haus

The somewhat different refuge in Salzburg! Nestled in the breathtaking high alpine landscape of the Tennengebirge (province of Salzburg, Austria), the Leopold-Happisch-Haus is located on Windischriedel at around 1925 m above sea level. It is a refuge run by the Salzburg regional organisation of the Naturefriends of Austria and has been operated with an innovative self-management concept since 2016. What awaits you here? A unique hut feeling awaits you in the Leopold-Happisch-Haus! Since there is no hut warden and no hut staff, you have to actively participate yourself and are jointly responsible with other guests for various tasks in the hut's everyday life - including cooking, washing up, cleaning the hut and fetching firewood. In the storage room of the hut there is a small supply of food and drinks available for a fee; however, you are also welcome to consume the food and drinks you have brought yourself. Payment for overnight stay and consumption is made independently on site in the hut on a basis of trust. Our hut staff and our team will be happy to answer your questions and help you! The Leopold-Happisch-Haus is closed from 18.10.2021! In winter, only the winter room is available, which can be used after prior reservation and against key collection. All guests are responsible for complying with the applicable official COVID 19 regulations! The Leopold-Happisch-Haus currently has 40 beds in several two-, three-, four- and five-bed rooms. All rooms are currently being modernised step by step; the already modernised rooms are equipped with light and sockets. The winter room has another 10 beds and there are 4 beds in the emergency room.
